Symphony of the Seas--Bigger Than Life

My "other" knee has gone bad.
The Symphony is the largest cruise ship in the world.
The first plus the second = Bad Combination
But, of course, I had fun!
You know I never met a cruise I didn't love!

Welcome to the Symphony of the Seas

3 Soccer Fields Long

Twice the height of the Washington Monument

Weighs more than 17,000 African elephants

As usual I dressed for cuteness first and comfort second!
This worked out fine for the plane, but I almost "perspirated"
to death when I boarded the ship!
I've been waiting to wear this since before the pandemic!
Can you tell it says "Travel and be Inspired?"

Be inspired to set my AC here! And here it stayed!

My first lunch. And second, third, and fourth.

The Symphony is an Oasis class ship and all are famous for
this roast beef sandwich. It is from Central Park's
Park Cafe

and is called

Then I did a little touring around the ship.
I found this model and photographed it, just in case I was
unable to take a picture of this monster for myself.
(Hint: I was) (And it's mahvelous!)
(If I do say so myself, and I do.)

The Symphony's Boardwalk. Under the tent is a carousel!

Dazzles Lounge - 2 Story

Central Park from the 15th Deck

The Royal Promenade

I attended my first show at the theatre that night,
a moderately funny comedian and juggler.

The next day I found the Diamond Club
and its comfortable sofa which I commandeered!
(I usually had the whole room to myself!)
I went incognito!
I had crossed from ship front to ship back on the pool deck.
That's why my hair has melted and my face is red!

I toted along my huge Daily Bible and brought my room
service coffee in my thermal cup, forgetting that
the Diamond Club had a fancy coffee machine!
Lattés and Capppuccinos from then on!

Only drawback: The Diamond Club is interior!
No view of the ocean.

Headed to the late (10:30 PM) Aqua Show

Friends, I made it this far on my story a few days ago
and just bogged down!
This is the only still picture I took at the fantastic aqua
show, where I was headed in the photo above,
and my videos (ah-mazing videos) won't load.

So I took a screen shot from one of my videos to show you.
It was almost too scary to watch anyway!

I will never be one of those travel girls
who gets by with just a carry on bag.
(I'm sure this surprises absolutely no one!)
So here is my fashion ensemble to go see Hairspray!
It's from Gracie Lane!

I'm really early! The theatre is huge!

Loved this musical, since hairspray is one of my best friends!

So after the show how about a stroll through Central Park?

All the Oasis class ships have a fabulous Central Park
on the 8th Deck. It has thousands of plants which get
direct sun because it is open all the way to the sky.
Central Park is perfection. There are numerous
crew members who lovingly attend it!

There are tiny birds which stay onboard, although I
know this one looks deceptively large.

One of the caretakers told me larger birds will fly in
while the ship is in a port, but they leave.
These little ones can't or don't.
I spent a long time trying to get a picture of one of
them hopping around on the ground, but...
it's not air conditioned out there!

Looking up from Central Park

Below is actually from a lovely (uncooperative) video
I got of these orchids blowing in the breeze.

I decided to brave the heat and humidity and disembark
in St. Martin to try to get a picture of the ship.
There were golf type carts carrying guests down the
pier to a nearby shopping area, so I hopped on.
Well, I eased on. My hopping is limited these days!
When I started back to the ship on another cart, we
passed a water taxi station, so I decided to try it!
What a good move that was.
Just look at the picture I got of the Symphony of the Seas!

It is magnificent. It is huge. My knee is shuddering.

The water taxi

Nice and big

Little did I know that I would get to see this quaint
Court House in Philipsburg, St. Martin!

And these stunning flowers!

All this and a fabulous picture of the whole ship, too!

I saw the crowd heading into the dining room the first
night, and decided it was not for me. I just ate pizza
in my room. Still hesitant the second night, I waited
until late and went up to the Windjammer. It worked
out okay, but is not like being served in the dining room.
So the third night I finally went to the maitré d and
asked how many were seated at Table 818.
He said "One." Royal Caribbean knows me!
It was on the top level with a view of the entire dining room.

Never very full!

Wow, did I get good service!!!

The lights above me change color!
I have this picture with green, blue, and purple lighting!
Let me know if you feel the need to see the other two!

Friday we pulled into everyone's favorite port--
Coco Cay or "Perfect Day at Coco Cay."
Everyone except me, that is! I only took pictures!
From the ship!

And I, Linda Jane Lynn Stovall, headed for the
adults only, deserted solarium!

The hot tub

And the plunge (cool) pool

Well, darn. Where is my little umbrella?

I was so happy that I kept up with my Bible reading!
With a snack back in the Diamond lounge!

And a "formal" night

Hors D'oeuvres in Diamond Club

"My" Sofa!

I am always fascinated by the ropes which hold this thing
that weighs more than 17,000 African elephants!

They always remind me of the hymn...
Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love;
The fellowship of kindred minds
Is like to that above.

My room steward took this picture for me.

I'm going to include this strangely black picture.
The reason? It is a response to a bucket list item for me.
I want to see the millions of stars in the sky--like are
shown at the beginning of Survivor

On the last night of the cruise I still hadn't gone to
sleep at 2:00 AM. I suddenly thought to get up and
go out on my balcony and look for stars!
I could see--not millions, but a lot more
than I see here in my back yard.
I took a picture, and on my computer I can see some of them.
You'll just have to use your imagination!

Good night, my starry sky.
Until we meet again.
