Sarah Ellen Lynn Festger came from Tucson, AZ, to visit
Linda Jane Lynn Stovall and see the fabulous
Susan Lynn Stovall Metzger as "Dolly!"
Sarah arrived last Tuesday at 5:00 P.M. at Love Field. The drive home from Dallas at that hour began her visit with an adventure in itself. But we made it without a single wrong turn or close call!
For our dinner I was able to serve her a Jay & Terri Stovall hamburger extraordinaire! Last time they grilled I ordered two burgers for us! She agreed that they are the best!
Sarah is a very self sufficient guest, especially when it comes to mornings and breakfasts. This was a very good thing since I had to leave her to fend for herself the very first morning she was here. It was my group's turn to help in the children's area at Bible Study Fellowship, and I was sorely needed.
As soon as I got home we took off for Gracie Lane and lunch at the Rose Garden Tearoom. Our favorite server, Juanita, told us that they were already out of coconut cream pie! But, guess what? They made one for Sarah! Is that special or what? (Well, they may have shared Sarah's pie with some lucky others!) We gave the Lane loads of our looking business before making our respective purchases.
We didn't want to wait any longer than Thursday morning to schedule a required event for any Sarah visit--German pancakes at the Old South Pancake House! I got up "early" so we could be there at a reasonable breakfast hour! We were not disappointed
Yes, we went through the car wash! What can I say besides, "Excitement unlimited!" And...
A clean car to drive to Granbury to the BIG EVENT!
On Sunday we went to church and Sunday School, then to Rockfish for lunch. Sorry, I know your head is just spinning now from all this activity! But...it's not over. We took a "hike" in the afternoon (Sarah's a big hiker) a total of about 5 blocks down to see the elaborate new roundabout being built that close to us!
Wow, I must say one can get no idea of the massiveness of this project from these photos! And no idea of the detours the people of our neighborhoods are having to take. Such a first world problem!
So to cool off from our lengthy hike we had to hot tub it!
A cool sunset from a hot tub!!!
Monday our friend Barbara Martin treated us to a great Texas lunch! Where else than Whataburger!
After lunch we went to Barbara's home, were joined by her friend Mercedes, and played Canasta! Sarah and I had been attempting a lot of two handed Canasta, which was a bit weird to say the least! We were victorious partners in this four handed version!
With activities like taking a walk and hot tubbing and playing cards, you might think it a bit of a stretch to call our week "whirlwind!" But it certainly was joyous for us. We NEVER run out of things to talk about, and we truly enjoy just being together!
Besides, it takes a little less to "whirl" us now!!!
